Postoperative Care after LSCD Treatment:

Drug Doses

  • Prednisone 0.5 mg/kg/d (starting 3 days prior) (for all patients)

The following drugs would only be perscrbed for patients that underwent KLAL:

  • Tarcolimus (FK506) 1.0 mg, bid (starting 3 days prior)
  • CellCept (MMF) 1 g, bid (starting few wks prior)
  • Acyclovir 200 mg 5/d (starting 3 days prior)

Drug Monitoring

  • Prednisone (glucose): Baseline and q 1 month while on substantial doses
  • FK506 (creatinine, FK506 trough level): Baseline and every 4 wks 
  • MMF (CBC, platelet, liver profile): Baseline and every 4 wks 

Clinical Follow-up

  • Monthly for the first 6 months
  • All meds are kept for at least 6 wks, prior to tapering Pred (over 4-6 months). CSA or MMF may be continued for 6-12 months.
